Dear Colleague
The World Interdisciplinary Network for Institutional Research (WINIR) has been set up to promote institutional research by bringing together scholars from all disciplines to contribute to our understanding of how institutions affect human well-being and economic performance.
WINIR has attracted worldwide interest among institutional researchers. Since its official launch in October 2013, it has become a rapidly-growing network with around 540 members from 50 countries.
The Inaugural WINIR Conference on the theme ¡°Institutions that Change the World¡± was held at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London, UK, on 11-14 September 2014. 187 delegates from 37 countries registered for the event.
Conference delegates were asked to complete a feedback form. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with a response rate of 25%. For 87% the conference exceeded or satisfied expectations. 78% indicated that keynotes were good/excellent, while 79% deemed that parallel sessions were good/excellent. Respondents strongly emphasized the value of interdisciplinary institutional research. Click HERE for a participant¡¯s view.
Building on this momentum, a number of WINIR events are planned in the near future. A focused WINIR Symposium on ¡°The Nature and Governance of the Corporation¡± will take place in Lugano, Switzerland, on 22-24 April 2015. The Second WINIR Conference on ¡°Institutions, Development and Globalization¡± will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 10-13 September 2015.
If you are not a member of WINIR, or if you wish to renew your membership, then there are currently reductions for 3-year and 5-year membership packages.
WINIR membership brings free access to the Journal of Institutional Economics, published by Cambridge University Press.
We hope to see you at future WINIR events.
