Dear Sir/Madam,
We are with the Center for New Structural Economics (CNSE) at Peking University, proposed and championed by Justin Yifu Lin, former World Bank Chief Economist in 2008-2012.
As the Center endeavors to be a leading research institute and think tank in development economics, it welcomes applications for various positions from top talents around the globe who aspire to contribute to theory and applied research in the field of new structural economics.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES:
I. Faculty
Candidates for faculty positions should have a Ph.D. degree (or expect to complete their Ph.D. in 2016). In addition to research capabilities, selected candidates will be expected to be able to teach and advise bachelors-, masters- and doctoral-level students as well as MBA students in English or in Chinese. The remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

II. Post-doctoral Fellows
Research Focus: New Structural Economics
Remuneration Package: 120,000 to 200,000 Yuan/year (basic salary + research allowance; with a rent subsidy if not allocated a dormitory at Peking University)
Requirements:
£¨1£© PhD degree (obtained degree within the past three years, new graduates included);
£¨2£© Strong academic abilities for theoretical and empirical research;
£¨3£© Rich experiences of rigorous field research and case studies is preferred;
£¨4£© Ability and intention to conduct in-depth research on fundamental theories of NSE and its related fields;
£¨5£© Mastery of modelling and econometrics is preferred;
£¨6£© Early availability to work as a paid full-time intern recently (until officially accepted as a Post-doctoral fellow at Peking University).

Post-doctoral Fellows at Peking University may choose to start their work at the beginning of April, July or October each year (early availability on an interim basis is encouraged, as above).
III. Think Tank Researchers
To facilitate the effective functioning as a high-level think tank, the Center welcomes applications for the think-tank researcher positions (1-2 contractual researchers and 1-2 project research specialists).
Researchers
Research focus: international development, China-Africa development cooperation, industrial parks, and industrial upgrading.
Note: This is a non-regular staff position (Outstanding Researchers may apply for converting to be a regular staff position)
Remuneration Package: 150,000 to 300,000 Yuan/year (basic salary + project bonus)
Requirements£º
£¨1£© PhD degree (including new graduates);
£¨2£© Able to conduct policy analysis and case studies, write think tank reports and build databases from the perspective of NSE;
£¨3£© Educational background in economics, international development or economic management, or research experiences in the fields of international development, China-Africa development cooperation industrial parks and industrial upgrading are preferred areas of research;
£¨4£© Internships or working experiences in international organizations, think tanks or developing countries (Africa, South Asia, South East Asia and Latin America, etc.) are preferred;
£¨5£© A good command of case studies or quantitative analysis is preferred. English publications including papers and research reports will be a bonus;
£¨6£© Good project promotion and management skills. Being adaptive to international business trips. Field research and interview skills are preferred;
£¨7£© Early availability to work as a paid full-time intern for six months ahead of formal appointment.
Project Research Specialists
Research focus: international development, China-Africa development cooperation, industrial parks and industrial upgrading.
Note: the position is not included in staffing of government-affiliated institutions.
Remuneration Package: 80,000 to 200,000 Yuan/year (basic salary + project bonus)
Requirements

£¨2£© Being able to conduct policy analysis and case study, write think tank reports and maintain databases within the framework of NSE;
£¨3£© Educational background in economics, international development or economic management, or research experiences in the fields of international development, China-Africa development cooperation industrial park studies and industrial upgrading are preferred;
£¨4£© Internship or working experiences in international organizations, think tanks or developing countries (Africa, South Asia, South East Asia and Latin America, etc.) are preferred;

Who We Are
Proposed and championed by Professor Justin Yifu Lin, New Structural Economics applies the neoclassical approach£¬based on the given factor endowments and endowments structure at any specific time, to study the determinates of economic structure, including technology, industry, infrastructure and institutions, and its dynamic evolution in the process of economic development. It underscores the essential roles of an effective market as well as a facilitating government in achieving rapid, inclusive and sustainable development. The NSE has been endorsed by renowned economists worldwide, including more than 10 Nobel Laureates such as Joseph Stiglitz, Gary Becker, Douglass North, Robert Fogel, Michael Spence and George Akerlof, and is taken as th third wave in development economics after Structuralism and neoliberalism.
The Center for New Structural Economics at Peking University aims to promote in-depth research and application of New Structural Economics, forging a platform to lead internationally theoretic research in new development ideas, to offer policy advice, and to provide educational programs.

ž Participate in Dialogues on Global Economic Governance
The Center cooperates with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), World Bank (WB), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the New Development Bank (NDB) and other major multilateral organizations to conduct country case studies, to improve their analytical framework and to enhance the global impacts of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and so forth. It aims to involve deeply in the formation of policy frameworks and realization of action plans for the Silk Roads Initiative, the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and other regional initiatives.
ž Apply the Growth Identification and Facilitation Framework (GIFF)
Drawing from the development experiences of China and other developing countries, the Center aims to promote the application of the GIFF globally in an effort to help developing countries, especially Least Developed Countries (LDCs), achieve economic transformation. Collaborating with the ¡®Made in Africa¡¯ Initiative, the Center aims to innovate business models and foster entrepreneurship and guide Chinese enterprises to go to Africa in an effort to create jobs and promote exports in African countries.
The Center aims to enhance industrial upgrading and structural change in Chinese regions. By hosting mayoral forums and annual summits, the Center is dedicated to make actionable policy proposals for achieving inclusive and sustainable growth throughout China.
ž Databases, Case Study Pool and Think Tank Flagship Reports
The Center conducts first-hand surveys to construct databases and case libraries. Based on rigorous academic research, the Center publishes flagship think tank reports exploring modernization paths in consistence with developing countries¡¯ own characteristics.
Ÿ Provide Multiple Layers of Educational Programs for First-class Talents
ž South-South Institute for Development and Cooperation
The Center supports South-South Institute for Development and Cooperation, which was proposed by President Xi Jinping at the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations for training of developing countries¡¯ young talents in government and academics, by providing NSE as its education program¡¯s theoretical foundation and cases from the experience of development and transition in China and other developing/transition countries as its teaching materials.
ž Summer/Winter School
The Center¡¯s summer and winter schools provides young scholars and students who are interested in NSE a chance of systematic academic training and intensive discussions. The Center also encourages and sponsors NSE-related workshops, seminars and research projects.
ž Massive Online Open Courses (MOOC)
The Center will run massive online open courses on NSE to provide unlimited participation and easy access for people from every corner of the globe.
ž Training Programs on Development Policy
The Center provides courses on development policy practice for government officials from developing countries.
