Subject [Call for paper] 2018 ISS conference in Seoul
Contents Dear colleagues,

The biennial conference of the International Schumpeter Society will be held in 2018 in Seoul, Korea. Under the theme of innovation, catch-up, and sustainable development, it will be held on campus of Seoul National University for the three days of July 2-4, 2018; It will start from the morning of July 2 Monday to end by the afternoon of July 4 with the Schumpeter Prize dinner on July 3.
We invite you to submit abstract of your papers to be considered for presentation at the conference. The conference will bring together scholars, policy makers and practitioners, including graduate students, working on broad issues related to innovation from a variety of perspectives. It also aims to foster an interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge. Our homepage is www.iss2018seoul.com

Some of the tentative names for keynotes speakers include B. Lundvall, J. Sachs, M. Egidi, Justin Lin, H. Odagiri, F. Malerba, David Sainsbury (Chancellor of Cambridge Univ.), Xiaobo Wu, and K. Lee (Presidential address), etc. Among the regular paper presenters, relevant scholars will also be invited for special sessions such as Sessions on Frontier of Innovation Studies, and on Modern Evolutionary Economics, and etc.
The Conference is open to submissions that deal with theoretical, methodological, empirical, and policy issues with Innovation, Catch-up, and Sustainable Development. We would like to encourage submissions especially in the following priority areas:

Innovation systems and Innovation Policy
Micro- and Macro-economics of Innovation
Long term economic development and Sustainability
Agent based models of innovation and Complexity Economics
Economics of firm and Corporate Governance
Innovation and entrepreneurship, including social innovation
Science, Technology and Society
Heterodox approaches compatible with Neo-Schumpeterian economics
Economics of Catch-up by the latecomers and emerging economies
Issues in Asia-Pacific economies:
Comparative and International analysis of economic growth around the world

Also, there will be sessions on book launching where authors introduce their new books, as well as poster sessions for students. Thus we encourage researchers to suggest proposals for special or parallel sessions (including book launching) on diverse topics of contemporary interest and to coordinate paper submissions for these sessions.

We will provide some financial support for the selected graduate students (or young scholars), in particular those from developing countries, upon arrival in Seoul. The exact amount will be decided later, depending upon ex post budget situations. Those in need of such support can write to the conference secretaries.

Following the tradition, there will journal publication of papers presented at the ISS 2018 conference in the special issue of Journal of Evolutionary Economics (official journal of the ISS), as well as an edited volume by the Cambridge Univ. Press. In addition, we plan publications of special issue in other journals, like Journal of Technology Transfer (on Changing Interface between Local Capacity and Global Connections), Seoul Journal of Economics (SCOPUS: on Innovation in Asia), Asian Journal of Technology Innovation, and Singapore Economic Review.

Information about acceptance/rejection by March 31 or earlier (on requests)
Early bird, and regular, registration: April 30, and May 20, 2018, respectively.
