Call for Papers and Preliminary Information The 12th International Convention of the East Asian Economic Association Convention Theme: "Asia and the Global Economic Recovery"
The 12th International Convention of the East Asian Economic Association will be held on 2-3 October 2010 in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The venue is Ewha Woman¡¯s University, http://www.ewha.ac.kr/ and hotel arrangements are with the Lotte City Hotel, http://www.lottecityhotel.co.kr/
The Program Committee is now issuing a call for papers related to the Convention theme and for papers on a wide range of economic issues as they affect East Asia. We welcome both ¡®purely¡¯ academic papers and ¡®policy papers¡¯ that discuss current policy issues of importance relevant to the Association. Session titles will be modified to accommodate the topics of papers chosen for the Convention. Possible topics for session titles and papers include, but are not limited to, the following.

Information on (1) how to submit abstracts for papers to be considered for inclusion on the Convention¡¯s program, (2) how to submit proposals for session organizers, (3) the choice of papers for the Convention and (4) possible subsidies for some paper writers is provided below.
1. Authors wishing to present a paper at the Convention should submit an abstract of the proposed paper not to exceed 200 words to the Program Committee, chaired by Professor Shigeyuki Abe of Doshisha University, Japan. For papers with more than one author, please clearly designate only one of the authors as the corresponding author. Also please indicate the session(s) you think your paper would appropriate for by listing up to three session letters and titles at the bottom of the abstract. Abstracts should be submitted by email in MS-Word format using English Language Times Roman fonts to the Program Committee at the following address by 9 May 2010:

2. In addition to individual paper writers, we welcome session organizers. Session organizers are responsible for providing a title and description of the scope of their session, inviting speakers and discussants to participate in the session. The deadline to submit the scope and list of participants is 9 May 2010.
3. The Program Committee will use abstracts of proposed papers to evaluate applications to present papers at the Convention. Evaluation of abstracts will be based primarily on the quality of the economic analysis that abstracts indicate the paper will contain, and secondarily on appropriateness of the proposed paper for the Convention. Authors will be informed of the results of this evaluation by 15 June 2010. The Committee will select Sessions Organized based on the scope and list of participants and the decision will be made by 15 June 2010 as well. The deadline for submission of full papers selected for presentation is 1 September 2010.
Detailed instructions will be distributed to authors whose papers have been chosen for the Convention. Papers must follow the style and format used in the Asian Economic Journal; see the submissions page at http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/asej and should not exceed 35 A4-sized pages using 12 point font. Papers should be submitted by email in MS-Word format using English Language Times Roman fonts to the Program Committee at the above address.
4. The East Asian Economic Association may be able to provide a modest subsidy to help cover expenses for travel, lodging, and Convention registration for junior (younger than 35 years old) authors whose papers have been selected for presentation at the Convention. Authors should indicate if they wish to apply for these subsidies when they submit their abstracts. For papers with more than one author, only one of the authors will be eligible for EAEA subsidies.
